Overview

Effectively block household stains with Bedec's Stain Block paint for both interiors and exteriors. A water-based paint that will cover stains such as nicotine, water, marker pen, crayon, tea, coffee and smoke. Ideal for busy homes due to its fast drying and low odour formulation for minimal disruption. It also helps to prevent bleed through that can cause unsightly staining on new paintwork.

Substrates that have had water-repellent preservative treatments applied should be avoided because adhesion could be compromised.

Clean Up Clean up immediately after use with warm soapy water. Remove as much product as possible prior to cleaning.

Preparation

For the best results always thoroughly prepare the surface. Ensure the surfaces to be painted are clean dry and free from dust, dirt, grease and wax.

  • Remove all loose and defective paint to leave a smooth and sound surface. Glossy surfaces should be lightly abraded to provide a key.
  • All algae, fungal or mould growths should be completely removed and treated with a .
  • Pressure-treated timber should be weathered for at least six months prior to painting.
  • Weathered wood should be abraded to reveal new cells and allow maximum penetration.
  • New planed, finished wood or PSE wood should also be abraded to open the grain and allow maximum penetration.
  • Allow new creosote three months to weather.

Application

We always recommend testing a small inconspicuous area to ensure you are happy with the finished results.

  • Stir well and do not apply when temperatures are below 8°C or when rain is likely for outdoor applications.
  • Apply using a brush, roller, conventional H.V.L.P or airless spray. Please note coverage will be reduced to 6-8m² per litre when applied with a sprayer
  • On untreated weathered wood, new wood, cement, render, plaster, brickwork, or any porous substrate the first coat should be thinned with 30% clean water.
  • In some cases you may need a second coat to completely block the stain, we recommend leaving four hours between each coat.

Aftercare & Storage

Ensure to clean the rim of the paint tin and firmly replace the lid before storing in a cool , dry area that will protect the paint from low temperatures. Do not store in a shed or by hanging on a hook.
